Shoshone Falls

On the 19th, we went to Shoshone Falls. We were lucky that the water level was high. We had read online that in the summer the water levels usually aren't very high. They were beautiful. I don't think the boys really appreciated the beauty of it all. I hope they had fun anyway. There was a hiking trail to go up to a higher lookout, but I was not going to carry Our Cutie up there in the heat, and I didn't want Kevin to have to either, and he did not want to take the boys by himself so we did not go. I am sure it was nice up there, but not with a not quite 2 year old. After the Falls it was time to head home. It was a short trip, but a nice getaway and it is always nice to be home.

Twin Falls Temple Open House

On the 18th we took a trip up to Twin Falls, Idaho to go to the Temple open house, and see one of my good friends Amie. We stayed with her family while we were there. The ride up was pretty uneventful, but the day before, we spent half the day figuring out if the battery in our car was not charging or if we had a bad alternator. Luckily it turned out just to be a bad battery (counting our blessings). It was a lot cheaper for a new battery than it would have been for an alternator and we did not have to cancel our trip. At first the boys were not interested in going to the temple, but once we got there they l0ved it. Both of them said that the baptistry was their favorite. We didn't have booties put on Our Cutie because we didn't think she would want to walk. We were so wrong. She started fussing to get down about halfway through. Grandma Colleen saved us by carrying her most of the time, that helped because she just adores her Grandma. So the moral of the story, put booties on even the tiniest feet (if they know how to walk). I loved the stained glass windows, the had the Idaho state flower in them. I also love the feeling of peace you get in any temple even before they are dedicated.

After the open house we all went swimming at my mom and aunts hotel. Then Amie took the boys home and Kevin and I ran to get some night pictures of the temple. When we got back, all the boys were asleep. This is how we found them the next morning. They had pitched the tent in the basement and hung up glow in the dark stars all over the room.

Memories

This seemed like a really fun thing to do...I saw it on someone else's blog and thought I would give it a try. It will only be fun if people play along.
Thanks.
Here's how you do it-
1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses.
If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

I wish I could remember better the days of just one child. No one to fight with or tease.

Go Raptors

Yesterday at summer lunch, I picked up a free copy of the newspaper. In it I found a free ticket for 4 to the Ogden Raptors game. We decided to go. J wanted a ball really badly but got tired of waiting and watching for a ball to come his way. He left to play on a playground that was just down from where we were sitting. Our Cutie was having fun watching the opposing team throw a ball. She stood by the fence and would occasionally put her arm through the fence to try and get a ball. Later one of the players from Great Falls, handed her a ball. She was very excited, but kept trying to throw it back over the fence. After the game we asked the player who gave her the ball to sign it for her. I always carry a little sharpie in my purse. You never know when you will need it. Usually it is for labeling toys we get in kid's meals to avoid the argument over whose is whose even though they are the same. BTW for those of you wondering, A decided to skip the game and hang out and have a sleep over with his friends at Todd's house. He must have had fun because he is snoring right now.

Good-bye

I had to say good-bye last night to my dearest friend and neighbor, Mary J. They are moving to California. It is one of the hardest things I have had to do. She was always there for me if I needed someone to watch my children or just to talk. She will be greatly missed. I am fighting back tears even now as I try to put my emotions into words. I wish them the best of everything in California.

On a side note, we got letters in the mail letting us know who will be our children's school teachers in the coming year. A will have Mrs. Brown and be in the 4th grade. J will have Mrs. Patterson/Mrs. Wood and be in 1st grade. We are getting excited for back to school. Well at least mom is. J I think is ready, but A says he is not yet. Don't you love the smell of a new box of crayons?

Our Little Man

On Saturday, I went shopping with Mary J, (I am going to miss her when she moves in 6 days). Thanks Kevin for watching all 6 kids while we were out. I bought a tie for A that he actually has to tie. So on Sunday morning we were getting ready for church and A asked if he could wear his new tie. I am glad I picked one out that he likes. Anyway he tied it all by himself just copying the moves Kevin did as he tied his tie and did it right on only the 2nd try. However when he took it off after church it did not slip out of the knot so we have to watch and see what he is doing wrong. But hey it looked great. Good Job A, we are so proud of you.
