Baseball and the Zoo

Jared started playing baseball this spring for the first time. So far he really seems to enjoy it. He has had 2 practices. He is pretty good at throwing the ball, and running. He needs to work on catching the ball. I haven't seen if they have practiced hitting the ball yet or not, but he probably will need to work on that as well seeing as he has never played before. I still need to get him some better pants to play in. Jeans are no good in that they restrict your movement somewhat, and shorts won't work because of any possible sliding into bases. He also needs some better shoes. We tried the old soccer cleats, but I guess it has been too many years since either boy played soccer, because those shoes were too small and hurt his toes. Now I just need to make time to go shopping for those two items. He has another practice today, and his first game on Thursday. I will keep you posted on his improvements.

On Thursday of last week, I did not watch Ashtyn as I usually do. I had heard from a friend in the ward that some of the mom's were going to the zoo, so I called her and asked if Kiana and I could crash their party and come along. Kiana had not been to the zoo before. Kevin was sad that he was unable to go with us, but he would have been the only dad in the group and greatly out numbered. Not that it would bother him. He will have to go the next time. The boys were disappointed to be left out as well when they found out. Oh well, I guess we will have to plan a family trip to the zoo in the near future.
We rode the new carousel, Kiana wanted to get on until we got on. She just held onto me for the first part. I finally got her to let go, so I could get some pictures. By the end of the ride she did not want to get off.

We tried to get a group shot of all the kiddos, but no one holds still long enough. Especially when there are nine of them.

Then we had to stop for a cute snack. I am not sure who made and brought the cupcakes, but they were so cute and a hit with all the kids. I am happy to say, Kiana kept her white shirt clean even after eating a chocolate cupcake.Last of all we rode the train. Kiana was the same with the train as the carousel.
She had fun with all the kids and seeing the monkeys, snakes and elephants. Those were her favorites. Thanks gals for letting us come along with you.

Menu

So I sat down this morning to try and write out a menu and a shopping list for the next two weeks. Don't you just hate that part of motherhood? It is such a pain. I feel like we always eat the same things. So if anyone has any great recipes that their families just love, please, please pass them my way. Or there is always the option of inviting us over for dinner or bringing dinner in. It is up to you. I look forward to some great recipes. Please help me out. The first 5 people to leave a recipe that my family enjoys, will get a surprise from us.
